Part of me wondered if perhaps he is correct. Maybe this is a wonderful bargaining chip to throw out to other countries, and maybe Bush was arrogant and dismissive in his ways. It’s possible renewed friendships will aid us in seeking “common goals”……
However, I decided to delve into the topic a little more, and of course I quickly remedied my flawed thinking!
The United Nations is comprised of 192 member countries, and each country’s vote is valid and equal. Not surprisingly, though, the United States pays a disproportionate share of the UN budget. We contribute 26% of the U.N.’s operating budget to be exact.
Does this not entitle us to flex a little muscle when our interests are at stake? Of course we are going to take center stage in world affairs and act dismissively toward countries with a GDP the size of St. Petersburg, FL!
All this “equal say” malarkey is a fine example of leftist ignorance…..these are the same people that vilify a “greedy” man who works his whole life to start up a company which will provide a living for many others, while at the same time, this man is contributing more than his fair share to the fat cats in government.
Yes, they tend to bite the hand that feeds them…….even the vegans that have sworn off meat!
Suppose a man-caused disaster decimates our economic system. Who will the rest of the world turn to for their funding? How will the U.N. retain a prominent role in world politics if they do not have the U.S. to carry their weight? Bush’s attempt to secure our country and maintain our strength in the world was considered “brazen”, but if the U.N’s budget is any indication, Americans account for 26% of the world! Therefore, if my calculations are correct, we should be entitled to 50 of the 192 security votes at the U.N.
In the whole scheme of things, the interests of the U.S. are more important than the interests of others countries, since we are essentially propping up the rest of the world through our economic system. No reason to feel guilty protecting them!
Interesting tidbit of information: Member nations receiving U.S. foreign aid vote against the U.S. at a rate of 74% at the United Nations.
Egypt, for example, after voting 79% of the time against the United States, still receives $2 billion annually in US Foreign Aid.
Jordan votes 71% against the United States and receives $192,814,000 annually in US Foreign Aid.
Pakistan votes 75% against the United States receives $6,721,000 annually in US Foreign Aid.
India votes 81% against the United States receives $143,699,000 annually in US Foreign Aid.
Keep apologizing Obama!!

What we need to do is stop giving aid to all. Then what will they have to say? They will probably be pissed and continue voting the same, but who the fuck cares! I am tired of all these dems and this wasteful spending. I am really worried they are going to screw things up so bad it will take many many years to recover if we ever really do.
No doubt! And then we treat these countries with kid gloves and criticize our previous administration for being "dismissive"....
Unfortunately, we live in a world where money dictates, and if you are going to accept money from someone, you should probably reciprocate with support!
However, I compleetly agree....QUIT GIVING THEM MONEY!!
I've seen a quote that says, "Foreign aid is essentially taking money from poor people in rich nations and giving it to rich people in poor nations"....very true!
