Taking a Breather

As mentioned, I have begun a new career in Austin, and with much regret, I have decided I will not have the time to continue The Morning Memo.

It's been fun ranting on a daily basis, but I won't be able to keep up with the news like I did slacking at my old job! Therefore, any attempts at snide commentary would sound rushed and forced.....

I'm sure once settled, I will pick things back up and you'll be the first to know....

Thanks again,

Wayne.

(Hopefully, this will not continue one day as a commie rag......friggin' Austin!!)

Empathetic Criteria

"We need somebody who's got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it's like to be a young teenage mom. The empathy to understand what it's like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old. And that's the criteria by which I'm going to be selecting my judges." – Barack O’Bama

It seems the current debate over Obama’s choice for a Supreme Court justice is missing the mark entirely. We don’t need a justice that feels “empathy”….it’d be nice, but someone who understands the rule of law and the Constitution should and would not allow “empathy” to get in the way. Empathy is an admirable trait, but it should never skew a Supreme Court justice’s decision.

There is talk, as well, of who Obama will pick. Will it be a woman, a Hispanic, a homosexual, or all of the above? Wow….wouldn’t that be cute! I’ve heard talk of Napolitano as a contender. She seems to fit the criteria, and she can take her same incompetent PC approach she has used to protect our borders and apply it to her court rulings.

It seems as if Obama’s decision will be based solely upon “gimmicks” rather than pragmatism…

***As I mentioned Friday morning, I have been busy settling into a new career and city. Things will start picking up again soon, so I appreciate your staying tuned.***

Tiny Voice (Yeah Right, I've Heard It!!)

Sent from a loud-mouthed chick I know regarding her coversation with another loud-mouthed chick!

"I am happy to inform yall that I just spoke with congresswoman sheila jackson lee (18th district, texas). She was passing out info on the swine flu and giving me her memorized B.S. speech on washing hands etc. Well, I bet she didn't expect that I would ask her about the biggest issue our country is facing! I told her that I was glad to meet her and get the opportunity to ask for her support on the HR-1207.

Of course she had never heard of the bill, so I explained to her the importance ofauditing the Federal Reserve and that they were solely responsible forthe state of this nation. I said that this was not a democrat or republican issue, but that we will all be paying for the reckless printing of money that isn't backed by anything. We can no longer afford to have these central bankers controlling us and I pray that you do the right thing and help us move in the right direction.

We are suppose to be a democracy, let the people speak. She said she would read the bill and then she made me smile and shake her hand for the photo-opp. Too funny that I decided to wear my go green shirt today, haha! Well, the guys that worked for her came up to tell me she was there talking to citizens and asked me what I was gonna ask her. When I told them, I was surprised to hear that they both agreed with me. He also told me about an incident that just took place in europe where the central bankers "digitally" injected more make believe money into the system. No news coverage on this of course. I got his card and I will be in touch with him to see that he stays on the congresswoman to read theHR-1207. My tiny voice was heard today! Yeah!! Have a good weekend!"

Welcome to America!

The following announcement apparently flew under the radar several month ago. Not only did we pledge assistance and aid to the Gaza Strip, Obama apparently felt the need to assist in the relocation of many terrorist sympathizers to the U.S. Yes, let’s kill the D.C. voucher program in order to relocate a chunk of Palestinians to the U.S. Didn’t they overwhelmingly vote to place Hamas in power? What could possible go wrong?

What He Meant to Say

“How vain it is to sit down to write when you have not stood up to live.” - Henry David Thoreau

***Just a “heads up” to those who have made it a point to check out the Morning Memo on a regular basis. I have enjoyed maintaining this site and hope to keep it going for some time….I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut! However, I’m beginning a new career in a new city next week, so posts may be sporadic until I am settled in. I appreciate your tuning in and look forward to laying down many more self-absorbed rants in the near future.***

Now, on with the show………

Yesterday, Joe Biden kept us entertained with some more candid advice. And although he’s a complete jerkoff, I do respect the fact that he speaks his mind….even when it is not in his best interest….or accurate for that matter.

He said, "I would tell members of my family, and I have, 'I wouldn't go anywhere in confined places now,'" the vice president said. "It's not that he's going to Mexico, it's that you're in a confined aircraft, and one person sneezes, it goes all the way through the aircraft."

Of course, this irked those within the travel industry who do not want pandemic panic to debilitate revenue.

I found Gibbs’ explanation of Joe’s comments amusing and deceitful, as always.

TAPPER: And my other question has to do with remarks that Vice President Biden made this morning on television. Representatives of the travel industry have accused the vice president of coming close to fear mongering because of these comments. I'm wondering if you wanted to clarify or correct or apologize for the remarks that he made.

GIBBS: Well, I think the -- what the vice president meant to say was the same thing that, begun, many members have said in the last few days. And that is if you feel sick, if you are exhibiting symptoms -- flu-like symptoms, coughing sneezing, runny nose, that you should take precautions, that you should limit your travel, and I think he just -- what he said and what he meant to say.

TAPPER: With all due respect, I sympathize with you trying to explain the vice president's comments, but that's not even remotely close to what he said. He was asked about if a members of his family...

GIBBS: Look, I understand what he said, and I'm telling you what he meant to say, which was that... (LAUGHTER BY REPORTERS) ... if somebody is experiencing symptoms -- you heard the president say this last night -- iIf somebody is feeling sick, if somebody is exhibiting symptoms of being sick, then they should take all necessary precautions. Obviously, if anybody was unduly alarmed for whatever reason, we -- we would apologize for that. And I hope that my remarks and remarks of people at CDC and Secretary Napolitano have appropriately cleared up what he meant to say.

Yes, this is what he meant to say if he meant to say it….huh??

Pro Choice

Obama campaigned on a “new era of responsibility” where one will not be beholden to special interests or lobbyists. The fawning media has incorrectly labeled him a “pragmatist”, when he is anything but. A pragmatist would recognize and address the issues facing our failing public schools, wouldn’t he?

It is well known government entities are the most inefficient form of doing business. Just as the DPS could care less how long you wait to renew a driver’s license in person, there is very little accountability in the public schools. And the Teachers’ Unions love this. They have lobbied for years against performance-based pay incentives and school vouchers, which are crucial for increasing educational accountability.

The past five years, Washington D.C. has attempted to address their failing school problem with an experiment in school vouchers. This will allow for a family to receive funding for their child for the private school of their choice. Not only does this give the child an opportunity for a true education, it also creates competition between schools vying for the potential tuition.

The five-year-old, federally funded voucher program serves about 1,800 schoolchildren...80 percent of whom are African-American, from homes with an average family income of $23,000 a year. The program spends just $7,500 per student, about half the per-pupil allocation for the local public school system.

But, Obama has taken that famous scalpel of his to the $410 billion omnibus spending bill, and they have removed the amendment which would allow for 1 more year of funding for the D.C program.

“The president doesn't believe that vouchers are a long-term answer to our educational problems and the challenges that face our public school system, where the vast majority of -- of students are educated in this country,” says Obama's swarthy salesman, Robert Gibbs.

Yes, $18 million is too much for an isolated voucher experiment that could pioneer a new era of education…..but we can give it to John Murtha’s airport instead? So much for our “hip” new prez, huh? Where's the "nuanced debate" and open mindedness?Government is not hip and cool…it is an antiquated and inefficient dinosaur and has proven it cannot run an cutting edge school system. But since the pols want ultimate control and need to maintain their power through the unions, we may never know just how effective the voucher program can be.

Now, let's watch Obama tackle our "failing" colleges......

Bribed Voters

Sent From a Friend:

Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul , Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Democrats:19 Republicans: 29

Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000 Republicans: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by: Democrats: 127 million Republicans: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Democrats: 13.2 Republicans: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Republican won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country (I am glad that I am in This group). Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.
