Enemy of the State

“I frankly don’t understand all the brouhaha lately from Congress and even from some of my colleagues about referring to foreign law.”

“Why shouldn’t we look to the wisdom of a judge from abroad with at least as much ease as we would read a law review article written by a professor?”

“The Canadian Supreme Court is probably cited more widely abroad than the U.S. Supreme Court. There is one reason for that. You will not be listened to if you don’t listen to others.”

-Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Of course you understand all the “brouhaha”, Ruth. You’re an intelligent woman, and you must realize that you are sworn in as a justice to interpret our laws within the realm of our Constitution. Foreign law is, and should be, irrelevant.

This type of Globalist philosophy is embraced by the left and almost lends itself to the concept of “people pleasing”. They respect and admire the European rule of law and seem to be embarrassed by our “primitive” and “old west” style of governance.

As I have said with regards to Obama, I realize America has done some ruthless things in the past. But I want our elected and appointed officials to still be proud of our country and hold us up in the highest regard. I still have concerns when our president, through deliberate words and actions, does not believe we are the greatest in the world.

The idea of others around the world not embracing our interpretation of law should not be a motivator within our Supreme Court.

Yeah....cruel government: we allow our women to actually show themselves in public (not to mention have "careers") and somehow still use the death penalty seldomly....our constituents keep there hands as well after they have been caught convicted of theft....yeah, tough, cruel government.
