SPIEGEL: Madame Secretary, in your first testimony to the US Congress as Homeland Security Secretary you never mentioned the word "terrorism." Does Islamist terrorism suddenly no longer pose a threat to your country?

Napolitano: Of course it does. I presume there is always a threat from terrorism. In my speech, although I did not use the word "terrorism," I referred to "man-caused" disasters. That is perhaps only a nuance, but it demonstrates that we want to move away from the politics of fear toward a policy of being prepared for all risks that can occur.

SPIEGEL: As governor of Arizona, you counted on new surveillance technologies to secure the border with Mexico. What sort of technology could you use in the fight against terrorism?

Napolitano: The violence perpetrated by drug cartels along the Mexican border has truly reached a different quality. This is partly fueled by guns that are purchased in the US and then transported south across the border. We scan license plates to help us determine which vehicles we must stop and search.

I had a little piece on South Park conservatives written for today, but after reading this interview from Homeland Security Advisor, Janet Napolitano, I had to get it up for you to read. I swear I thought this was a joke at first!

This idea of politically correct “new speak” actually relates to my post on “South Park Conservatism”, which was a term coined after the anti-establishment show famous for pointing out political correctness gone awry.

The idea of the DOJ disallowing the use of the term “enemy combatant”, and our Homeland Security Advisor shunning the word “terrorist” is very Orwellian. These are attempts to blind the sheople to the true dangers of the world, as well as a concerted effort to minimize or negate everything Bush has done in the past 8 years. A double sided “slap in the face” to the American people.

The term "man caused disaster" is now replacing terrorism. Yes, very "1984"....lowering the vocabulary of Americans by bundling many ideas under one blanket term. Bombing a mall in the name of Allah will now be no different than a bridge collapsing due to faulty engineering.

And I resent the term "man caused disasters"....shouldn't it be "human caused disaster"?? Very sexist and ignorant, but I would expect that from a man who goes by the name "Janet"!

And listen as she places the blame of Border Violence on gun policies of The United States. ….if only our gun laws were stricter, we wouldn’t be having this problem….what a crock! Yes, I suppose that is a part of it, but if our borders were vigorously enforced and Mexico’s third world government was able to get a hold on their country (including the importation of weapons), guns would only be part of the equation.

Guess what, Janet? Americans are allowed to buy and sell weapons. It is legal. What is not legal is the daily flow of thousands of illegal immigrants into our country. Enforce that.

Although this truly disgusts me, I almost enjoy watching it occur, because I am confident this Political Correctness being shoved down our throats will be a rallying cry for those that want this insanity to end.....I hope!

Tagging certain speech as “unacceptable” is one more tactic by the government to guide us into Totalitarianism.

Newspeak - The official language of Oceania. Newspeak is "politically correct" speech taken to its maximum extent. Newspeak is based on standard English, but all words describing "unorthodox" political ideas have been removed. In addition, there was an attempt to remove the overall number of words in general, to limit the range of ideas that could be expressed.

Thoughtcrime - To even consider any thought not in line with the principles of Ingsoc. All crimes begin with a thought. So, if you control thought, you can control crime.

joycamp - Forced-labor camp.

sexcrime - Having sex for enjoyment. Also, even having sex in the hope to create a family of your own. The only time that sex is considered is when it is performed in producing offspring for the party.

prolefeed - Rubishy "Entertainment" and spurious news which the Party handed out to the masses. This includes written literature, movies, porn, music, and other various propaganda created for the proletariat.

oldthink - Holding on to old ideas and patterns of thought not consistent with current government policy (Ingsoc). Maintaining a belief that is no longer acceptable, but was normal just a few years prior.
