Follow-Up From MIAC Post

You may recall a post last week regarding the Homeland Security “fusion centers” and the Missouri Information Alliance Center (MIAC) report which called for officials to be on the lookout for militia activity. This report unfairly characterized Ron Paul supporters as “potential threats” and possible militia members..

There was plenty of vocal outrage from Ron Paul supporters and others who viewed this “profiling” as a threat to liberty.

Missouri officials soon began to “Crawfish” (swimming backwards with their tails between their legs), and removed the language referring to Ron Paul supporters from the report.

Then on Friday, Missouri officials retracted the entire report.

As we speak, the Highway Patrol is investigating the orgin of the original report, and Missouri's Lieutendant Governor has called for the suspension of the Director of Public Safety until those responsible have been idenified.

Although I can appreciate the fact that they may have had the best intentions for keeping us safe, the report was completely reckless and needed to be modified or removed.

**Side Note……I noticed a visitor to the Morning Memo had done a “blog search” with the words “fusion” and “center”, which lead them to this site on the day of the MIAC post. Obviously someone was interested in knowing which blogs were speaking of the MIAC report. Interesting…..
