You must be kidding me….America the apologist. Yes, I suppose some of this is true, Hillary…but, what do you propose? Unless the American government is maliciously fueling the violence in Mexico, I think she should stuff her apologies back into her pantsuit!
First of all, it is not the responsibility of the U.S. to stop weapons at the border. I’ve been to the border several times….you just drop a quarter in the turnstile and you’re in. Coming back is another story! If Mexico wants to curb gun violence, then they can begin by securing their own border.
California is bankrupt, due in large part to the strain on healthcare and free services given to illegal immigrants. Has President Calderon apologized to California for allowing this to happen? Did he ever accept responsibility for Mexico’s weak economy and culture of corruption that has driven his citizens to America in the millions? Shouldn’t Mexico close their borders to curb illegal immigration into the United States? Probably not. That’s our responsibility, and we have failed miserably. This is no different than Mexico’s inability in stopping the illegal weapons trade.
Hillary has indirectly accepted responsibility for the illegal immigration to our country…with her logic, our gun laws and anti-drug laws have essentially brought down the Mexican government, so it must be our responsibility to accept illegal immigrants invading our country. Right?
Yes, it is quite a predicament down there, and of course she is correct in stating that our appetite for drugs has fueled the trade. But why should we accept responsibility and apologize for having drug laws that are no different than Mexico’s laws? Ridiculous. I suppose they should be thanking us for our laws, since the drug industry seems to be the only one thriving down there!
I was recently told about an analyst at PBS who recently tied the surge in Somali piracy to our “insatiable” appetite for fish….try and follow…. He says that Western cultures have over fished the seas off the coast of Somali, which has completely diminished Somalia’s fishing industry. Therefore, they have no choice but to rob ships now!
This type of pretzel logic must end! Obama’s new brand of diplomacy seems to involve calling a spade and ace, while branding ourselves the devil. It’s obvious we will soon be deeply entrenched in Mexico’s drug wars, and we will devote time, troops, and resources. Can’t we just do this as an act of goodwill, rather than predicate it upon our acceptance of responsibility? Vilifying America is no way to motivate the troops that will soon be risking their lives to clean up an unappreciative Mexico.
